Linda’s War on Waste

To Compost or Not To Compost

(By Kate R)

Composting is a great way to reduce food waste by turning it into a valuable food for your gardens.

Check out the pic below about what you can compost and how to make a compost bin if you haven’t already set one up from the Spring Clean last year.

If you already have a compost bin, then the ‘To compost or not to compost?’ can help keep you going in the right direction.

If you don’t have a compost bin, then the ‘DIY Compost Bin’ can help you set one up.

If you can’t set up a compost bin, then you can save all of your compostable scraps and send them up to the Clarendon Vale or Rokeby Neighbourhood Centres for use in the local community gardens. You can drop them in between 9.00am and 3:00pm Monday to Friday. This will help you to reduce your food waste as well as helping the garden to improve the health of its soil.

Everyone can play a role in helping Clarence Plains to increase their composting and reduce food waste.
