Recently one of our members wrote to Andrew Wilkie MP about the Centrelink Debt Recovery Program and received this email in response. Some of our readers may want to contribute the to Senate inquiry so you will find a link below that will direct you to a website where you can find out more and an email address that can be used to share your personal experience, good or bad.

Good morning,

Thank you again for taking the time to email your concerns regarding the Centrelink debt recovery program, which continues to send out thousands of inaccurate debt notices.

Last week the Senate referred this program to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee for an inquiry.

Further details of this inquiry can be found here:

http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Community_Affairs/SocialWelfareSystem

Andrew would like to encourage you to make a submission to the inquiry outlining your experience. It is important that the Senate gets a full understanding the impact these debts are having on the Australian community.

Submissions are due by 22 March 2017 and can be emailed to community.affairs.sen@aph.gov.au or posted to:

Committee Secretary
Senate Standing Committees on Community Affairs
PO Box 6100
Parliament House
Canberra ACT 2600

Kind regards
